By patching together four environmental art grants that totaled $32,000 and involving Caltrans to do the heavy work, Leibovitz Steinman created an innovative, temporary, memorial garden. The gardens 3000 plants (California poppies, redwood and cypress trees, grasses, passion vines and morning glories) were maintained by a crew of volunteer gardeners, who graduated from a free ten-week landscape gardening course offered by Meritt Colleges Horticulture department. |
