Invited
by a committee of twelve parliament members to propose a work for Sir
Norman Fosters renovated Reichstag, Haacke proposed a work that
would both critique the buildings 1915 inscription and require
parliament members to deposit two 25-kilogram bags of soil from their
region onto a plot in the northern courtyard. Despite efforts by a coalition
of Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union to defeat
his proposal, the measure passed by a narrow margin of 260 to 258. |
