Art & Ecology Colloquium and Credits

This project is based on teaching strategies and curriculum research developed at the 1996 Art & Ecology Summer National Colloquium, held at The Ohio State University. Dr. Don H. Krug directed the National Colloquium, working with participating Colloquium faculty to engage educators in action-oriented inquiry about the interconnectedness of nature and culture. The guiding metaphor of the Colloquium was that "learning occurs when you hear the grass singing." This metaphor implies that understanding can be achieved through immersion within your environment.

The Art & Ecology Colloquium was organized around an experiential approach to teaching and learning that extended the classroom into the community. This Art & Ecology program further develops some of the concepts generated for creating and organizing interdisciplinary curricula.
